We recently had the pleasure of spending some time with our friends at AM Solar in Springfield, Oregon. Deb & Greg Holder and their staff are not only a delight to work with, they are experts on solar power. In addition to getting our complete solar system from them, we also received tons of advice on a wide variety of subjects including the installation of the system, boondocking (they are avid travelers), maps, books, and by far their favorite subject...Hot Springs! I do believe they can tell you the location of almost every hot springs in this country, but then they would have to kill you!
It was fun to watch their expert staff of technicians clamber about the Airstream trailer they coincidently were working on while we were there. We got to watch as they pulled the wire from the rooftop combiner boxes and snaked it through the coach on its way to the batteries. Getting to watch this installation was invaluable when it came time for us to install our system. Deb also couldn't wait to show off her electric "ZAP" vehicle in which she commutes on a daily basis.
We also got to spend some time with Deb going through their massive library of reference materials. They have put together an incredible array of publications on everything related to boondocking and of course hot springs! Deb even managed to sneak in a photo of Greg at one of their favorite spots wearing only what he came into this world with!
We did quite a bit of shopping for our system before we came across the good folks at AM Solar. If you are considering the purchase of a solar system for your RV or remote cabin, we can tell you from experience, these are the people to see!
